Dry lot homes
Vacation rentals restricted
Colony Park was originally the site of Island Homes, the Housing Authority of the City of Galveston’s low-income project for white families. This changed after federal civil rights legislation when the Housing Authority depopulated Colony Park and sold the home sites for redevelopment as an affluent residential enclave (Beasley and Fox, 1996). (From 2011 City of Galveston Neighborhood Master Plan)
Colony Park restricts short-term rentals. Homes are generally single-story, brick construction, built on larger lots. Located off Stewart Road, Colony Park is within easy driving distance of several retail and shopping areas and is approximately half a mile to Seawall Blvd.
